ADHD Assessment & Diagnosis Training

Specialist training for clinicians across the lifespan.

Dr Floriana Reinikis delivers comprehensive two-day professional training programmes in ADHD assessment and diagnosis, offered in two pathways: Adults and Children and Adolescents. These online trainings are designed specifically for qualified mental health and neurodevelopmental professionals who are eligible to assess and diagnose ADHD within their professional scope of practice, in accordance with NICE guidelines and the standards of their regulatory bodies.

The training is intended for appropriately qualified clinicians, including clinical and counselling psychologists, psychiatrists, paediatricians, specialist nurses, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists working within neurodevelopmental or mental health services. It is not suitable for individuals who are not clinically trained or whose professional role does not include diagnostic assessment.

What You’ll Learn

Dr Floriana Reinikis delivers comprehensive two-day professional training programmes in ADHD assessment and diagnosis, offered in two pathways: Adults and Children and Adolescents. The training provides a structured and clinically rigorous framework for conducting high-quality ADHD assessments, supporting clinicians to practise with clarity, consistency, and confidence while working in line with NICE guidelines and current diagnostic criteria.

Alongside this strong clinical foundation, Dr Reinikis places particular emphasis on developing person-centred and neuroaffirming assessment practice. Clinicians are supported to understand ADHD beyond stereotypical presentations, recognising the diversity and complexity of how ADHD can present across the lifespan. The training explores frequently under-recognised presentations, including ADHD in women and girls, individuals who may mask or compensate for their differences, and presentations that can be overlooked within traditional models of assessment.

Across the two days, participants deepen their understanding of ADHD neurobiology, developmental trajectories, differential diagnosis, and co-occurring conditions. Clinicians are guided through the use of structured assessment tools such as the DIVA and ACE, alongside commonly used screening instruments and formulation-based clinical reasoning.

The adult ADHD training has been endorsed by NHS Scotland for a second year running. Dr Reinikis has delivered this programme to multidisciplinary clinicians across NHS Scotland, helping professionals from a range of clinical backgrounds to build confidence, consistency and depth in their ADHD diagnostic practice.

How the Training Works

The programme places strong emphasis on practical clinical application. The training is highly interactive and discussion-based, including opportunities to observe and reflect on examples of assessment interviews, explore real clinical dilemmas, and engage in guided discussion with peers.

To ensure depth of learning and meaningful participation, the training is delivered in small groups of up to 20 clinicians, creating space for questions, clinical reflection, and active engagement throughout the two days. This format allows participants to translate the learning directly into their own clinical practice.

Participants regularly report that it enhances both their diagnostic clarity and their ability to carry out thorough, ethically grounded assessments.
