We undoubtedly live in a world characterised by faster-paced life, where we often feel under competitive pressure in achieving popularity and happiness. But this is not always the case and if you are experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, you are not alone.

You may be struggling with relationships at work and/or home, or you may have experienced a stressful life event, such as a trauma, bereavement, relationship breakdown, physical illness.

At Oasis Psychological Services we are dedicated to delivering expert and personalised psychological assessments and a range of  evidence-based therapeutic treatments to suit your needs and difficulties. We are committed to supporting  you to experience more meaningful relationships and a less stressful life.  

Initial Assessment

 At the first initial assessment, one of our clinical psychologists will meet with you to gather information and details about your presenting difficulties and concerns. It is fine to have someone you know with you. 

During the  assessment sessions, we will also ask about your early life and history. At times, we ask to fill in some standardised clinical questionnaires and/or rating scales, which together with the clinical interview, help us identify the specific areas of need and formulate and agree a therapeutic plan.  

The assessment is usually done in two sessions of 1 hour each. Appointments can be arranged during the day or evening.

You are never under any obligation to continue with therapy. 

Taking the First Step

Asking for help may feel daunting and may take some courage. At Oasis Psychological Services, we understand that this is not easy and we endeavour to make this first step easier.

We offer an initial 15-minute free telephone consultation. This offers the opportunity to discuss your concerns and see if we are the most appropriate service to meet your needs.  There is no obligation at this stage.

This may lead to an initial assessment with one of our clinical psychologists. However, if we are unable to provide support, we will try to signpost  you to a more suitable service.

Following the assessment, if you wish to continue with the therapeutic plan, we are able to offer a range of evidence and research-based therapies.

The clinical psychologist you meet with at the initial assessment sessions will talk you through the most suitable therapeutic approach to address your difficulties. We specialise in the following therapeutic approaches:

FAQs

How long does therapy last?

There are national guidelines (NICE guidelines) that are based on research and clinical experience that give a rough idea of the length of therapy for specific problems.

However, individuals’ experiences of psychological and mental health problems vary, and therefore therapy can be longer or shorter depending on personal circumstances. On average 12 sessions are recommended. We review your progress with you every 6 sessions, so that we can amend things as we go along. 

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment? 

We ask you that you please give us 24 hours’ notice. If less than 24 hours’ notice, there will be a charge of full cost of the appointment. 

Can I have my session on Skype?

We are happy to offer sessions through Skype or Zoom if you live too far to attend every week or if it is more feasible to have a combination of face-to-face and Skype/Zoom sessions.
